Baseball is a grueling sport. With 162 games played each Major League Baseball season, fans often sympathize with the players who are always on the road and away from their families. Even the front office members of a MLB organization can enjoy a bit down time on the off weeks when the team is out of town. Through interviewing Sue Jo, MLB Social Media coordinator for the Los Angeles Dodgers, it was evident that she has a very similar schedule as the players. She doesn’t travel with the team but she works the away games from home, she gets to the ballpark early and stays late. In the following pages I’ll discuss the role of a MLB team assigned social media coordinator, the structure of the Dodgers organization and it’s relation to MLB, as well as Jo’s career goals and advice for anyone trying to break into the sports industry.
