Baseball Is A Grueling Sport Essay - 1659 Words

Baseball is a grueling sport. With 162 games played each Major League Baseball season, fans often sympathize with the players who are always on the road and away from their families. Even the front office members of a MLB organization can enjoy a bit down time on the off weeks when the team is out of town. Through interviewing Sue Jo, MLB Social Media coordinator for the Los Angeles Dodgers, it was evident that she has a very similar schedule as the players. She doesn’t travel with the team but she works the away games from home, she gets to the ballpark early and stays late. In the following pages I’ll discuss the role of a MLB team assigned social media coordinator, the structure of the Dodgers organization and it’s relation to MLB, as well as Jo’s career goals and advice for anyone trying to break into the sports industry. Jo was extremely fortunate to receive the opportunity to work in Los Angeles. Prior to her job as a social media coordinator s he had worked for NBC here in Chicago and was also a Real Time Correspondent for the Chicago White Sox. â€Å"I knew I wanted to be working in sports social media, particularly baseball. My employer is Major League Baseball and I told them that I was looking for a social media job in either LA, Texas or Florida,† said Jo, â€Å"There was an opening with the Dodgers so I interviewed for it and I got the job† (S.
